Latest Thangs

Hey everyone, how you guys doing? I'm currently writing this all on my iTouch cause for one it's 10:55 and according to my mom blogging is less important than sleep. But not to me, you can see that for yourself though. Anyways, TONS of new stuff I have to tell you guys about since my last post. I just wish I had more time to write my blogs but there are SOO many things to worry about in school. Summatives, exams, homework, tests and plenty more. But the important thing is that I'm here now and I have time to let my mind loose for the next half hour or so. So let's get onto our first topic shall we?

Ever since I got the BOSS VE-20 vocal processor for my birthday I've taken every opportunity that I can to practice my songs with it. And so far I LOVE IT!!!!!! For one, it's SOOOO much fun composing your own music and singing your own lyrics. It's just fun period. Imagine if you could compose your own world with it's own little details. To me that's what it feels like, composing my own music with my own lyrics with my own custom manipulation of the effects is just an AMAZING feeling. I will continue to do so until who knows when. I also completed new lyrics today in class and I think that they're my best lyrics so far. But then again I say that about every new lyrics that I write. Maybe that's because they get better every time. Well I guess practice makes better, cause there ain't no such thing as perfect. So anyways, what are my plans for the VE-20? Keep practicing is my number one goal and then one day I'll be good enough to perform on Yonge and Eglinton and I will once I get to that stage. And then hopefully I'll pursue music as a career but that's a BIG maybe because I don't know what I want to do with my life yet, which is basically what my new song is about. But for now, I'll just keep writing lyrics, releasing them to you guys, and practicing. I think that just about sums up THAT topic, so let's move on shall we?

So, SUMMER IS COMING!!!! And I am excited. Because I've got TONS of things planned for the following free 2 months. But before I get into that. I'd like to congratulate the graduating class of NT 2011. You guys made it! Anyways, back to the topic. My plans for the summer are to practice my BOSS VE-20 skills, take a trip to Russia, hopefully visit my brother, practice writing and reading in Russian, and hopefully hang with friends for some portion. So the VE-20 part is self explanetary, but this year I'm going to Russia again! I'm gonna visit all my relatives there and see the sights of the Motherland. And how I miss it. The subway has such a smell that I just CAN'T bear myself to forget. No kidding, the smells there just bring A LOT of memories. I even remember the smell of my father's, sister's house. Because those smells help me remember what I saw in Russia when I was there for a while. Oh man it's gonna be so nice. Don't worry guys. I'll still be posting my blogs there almost every 3 days or so cause I'll be staying at home for the first portion of the trip which will give me the opportunity to practice with my VE-20 and just some alone time that I sometimes need. Overall, I expect it to be a great summer. And then I'll probably head over back home and catch a flight to see my brother whom I haven't seen since the end of December. It's gonna be SOO good to see him and hang with him. We all need to be with family for a long time sometimes just for the fun of it. And then I'm hopefully gonna have time in the middle of all that to read and write up on my Russian. For 1, I've been getting worse at speaking it recently because I only talk in Russia. And it's at a very poor level that I want to raise so that I won't have to worry about it. I'm not saying I'll be fluent by the end of the summer, but hopefully I'll have improved on some level. So those are my plans for the summer. Go ahead and share yours in the comments section. Hopefully you'll have a great summer because nothing is worse than a bad summer. Anyways, let's move onto my latest lyrics shall we?

So today, in the length of one Science period I managed to write an entirely new song. It's mostly about finding your place in the world and how I don't know what to do with my life and many other people don't either. Oh and by the way, I figured out how to perform my first 2 songs with choruses and this one is on it's way. So once I finish this one I'll video record myself singing it with my VE-20 and post it on here and YouTube so that the world may see the talent spectacle that is: Mr. Lonely (it's my stage name for all my performances) I'm only jokin about the spectacle and talent part though. One day I'll be good enough to play on the street. And maybe even record an album. But that's for another day. So without further ado. My lyrics:

I don't know what to do with this life of mine
I can just sit back, laugh, and party all the time
But there's work to be done, and hardly any fun
Haven't got all day, not getting paid, so I gotta run
I don't know who I'll be or what I'll become
A singer, a dancer, or a man on the run?
We've got so many choices, possibilities
Don't throw away your life for anything, please
But what is our goal? It's all compulsory
Go to school, university, get a job, and a family
There has to be another way, another way out
Of this boring lifecycle, and what it's all about
Some become businessmen, some musicians
While others find their path in college with all of us
We all wil find out, who we will be
Bu there are others that have no idea like me

Chorus X2:
Someday, we will find our destiny
Someday, we will be who we were born to be
Someday, we will do everything
That someday, oh someday
I'll know the man that's become to be me

I don't know who to be, or become in the future
But I know what I won't do: drugs, gangs, or guns. I won't shoot ya
Most likely, I'll be up in the streets
Singin or dancing, with you watching in a seat
Or maybe, just maybe, I'll make it to the big time
In the studio, writing albums, with my latest rhyme
But that's a dream, one big big dream
That maybe, just maybe I'll oneday achieve
For now, I'll learn, write, and sing.
I'll be living my life once I end this thing
Called school, 16 years to be exact
Some waste it, some love it, others take it as a fact
Of life, and they accept it
We gotta do it either way, or we'll never make it
And so I leave you with these final words
Go to school, do your work, and choose your own turns

Chorus X2

So thats my songs. I hope you guys like it. I've just been so busy with things in my life I've been feeling overwhelmed with everyone else knowing who they want to be so I had to express it in a song. It'll take me a couple of weeks to learn it by heart so don't expect any videos anytime soon. But I'll most likely have one before I leave for Russia which will be the 29th. Or I'll record it there, who knows? Anyways. That ties up today's topic. And I gotta go catch some Z's before my French lesson tomorrow. So for now: read it, learn it, live it, love it, and post it!

Cheers, MarkL

Happy Birthday to me, yesterday!!!!!

Hello peoples, I'm in a VERY happy mood today, or at least I was and still am from yesterday? Care to guess? Well don't, cause it was mah bday yesterday!!!!!!! Oh man not only was it an amazing day I also got mah BOSS VE-20 loopstation!!!!! I'll tell you ALL about how it went down in the next few paragraphs.

Let's start with me waking up. Now, every birthday that I've had up until now has had an effect on my morning. For some reason, I just feel like I have some sort of summer air inside of me, some sort of freshness flowing through my veins. Although it didn't go down like that this year, it was still an amazing morning. As soon as I woke up, at around 6:30 or something like that i had a BIIG grin on my face about it. But that's natural for everyone that has their special day, even if you're 65 you'd still smile on that morning when nobody's looking even if you're a grouch. So as soon as I got out of bed, I rushed myself downstairs to the kitchen table where I found mah presents!!!!!! Now, I've been waiting for the VE-20 for a LOONG time, I'm talking about 7 months here and it was DEFINITELY worth it all. When I first began tweaking it and testing out it became SOOO easy to make mini songs or intros and VERY quickly. I ofcourse woke my mom before doing so and she congratulated me on my special day and how I have my entire future ahead of me, which I do. It was a good moment for us all and I then quickly proceeded to my room where I turned on the VE-20 and went over the manual and practiced it until around 7:45, it was just so mesmerizing how easy it is to create your own tracks with it. After that I got my stuff, ate my breakfast, and ran to school. And if it's one thing I've learned it's that it's REALLY awkward to tell people it's your birthday, well at least it is for me. Oh and a shout out to Tijana whom was in my art class that morning and has the same bday as me. So anyways, here are some thing I learned to survive a good bday. If it's someones birthday, don't just ignore it, make sure to remember it and celebrate it by congratulating them. If you overhear it's someone's birthday don't just ignore it, use it to your advantage and make the whole class sing it! But if i's one thing, if two people have the same birthday, congratulate BOTH of them. Sadly at Don Mills this was not recognized, and somehow it carried onto one girl here too, but she can do whatever she wants. Anyways, ALWAYS congratulate someone on their birthday, ALWAYS, ALWAYS, oh and.....ALWAYS. It's their day where the world revolves around them for once, and when it's your turn then they'll make sure to cheer you on, happiness given is happiness returned another day. So that's basically it, I'm going to rate what I know of the BOSS VE-20 and what I plan to do with it in the next paragraph,

Ok so when I unwrapped the BOSS VE-20 there was an instruction manual, the actual loopstation, 6 AA batteries to start with, and I think that's it. You can get one at multiple places, if you're in Toronto then you can get it locally at Long & McQuade for around 340$ with the PSA Adapter (charger) or you can get it at Amazon.ca or .com which is the preferrable option because it costs less. There are multiple input and output jacks on the VE-20, there are 2 for Amps (left and right), Microphone, Charging, Headphones (you need a special type of cord or a converter will work fine, I prefer the converter because it's cheaper to buy and it's what I use to plug into my speakers) and I think that's it. If you need a detailed description go to their website:http://www.bossus.com/gear/productdetails.php?ProductId=1043
And read up on the loopstation and all its specs because I just got it 2 days ago and I don't even know EVERYTHING about it. SO let's start with the effects, there is about 15 of them that I don't understand that professional vocalists use like 3rd and 5th harmony and other stuff like that. There are basic effects like Echo, 6 Voices, 3 Voices, Chorus, Rock, Pop, Hip-Hop etc. Then there are the AWESOME ones like Radio (I love it because it actually sounds like an old radio voice with static, just youtube search it and you'll see), Robot (which is like a REALLY deep voice which is good for the bassline of a song), Strobe (where some parts of what you are saying are cut out, for example if I say "Damn this is good" you'll hear "D mn thi s i go d" it sounds better than how I wrote it) and I think that's all that I remember. Those are all the ones that I use frequently, I mostly use 6 Voice for the beatboxing part, Radio for the harmony, and Robot for the bassline because it's REALLY deep and warpy if you can control it. If you're wondering, you need a PSA 120 Adapter to charge the VE-20 from an outlet or use 6 AA's (preferrably rechargeable because I think that the VE-20 will kill the batteries quickly) and I use an SM-58 microphone, it's by far REALLY good even though I don't know a lot about mic's. Here's a website for the mic just in case you know your fair share about this stuff: http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones/sm/sm58-vocal-microphone
So that's my "review" on the BOSS VE-20, I'm sure I'll have plenty of time to practice over the summer, and even next year. Oh and I almost forgot, what are my plans for the VE-20? Well firts I gotta get good performing at home, because the VE-20 works kind of like a match. Once you record a voice track (which you can do multiple times) you cannot edit it or erase it from the song so you have to choose VERY carefully what you say and not to mess up. So in order to overcome that challenge you have to know what you say and how you say it before you say it. For that to happen, I'm going to have to practice A LOT in my freetime and write TONS of songs to practice. And the other thing is, the only way you can record yourself on the VE-20 is by videotaping yourself or a studio. For 1, the studio costs MONAY, which I don't have, and you need A LOT of it just to record one song. 2, the VE-20 doesn't save you track once you sing it, because once you're done singing and you erase it, there's no going back and you can't edit some parts of a song which is why it works like a match. I still LOOOVE the VE-20 to death!!!!!!! My plans are to first practice at home, then take it to school when I'm good enough for a competition or just to perform in class. And then during the summer of hopefully grade 10 or anytime I have free time on my hands over the weekend or on a holiday or a break I will hopefully figure out a way to hook up the VE-20 to speakers on Yonge and Eglinton and play my songs and figure out what to do from there. Maybe I'll be playing in the TTC subway station, or even the New York transit system where even MORE people live, I think (I don't really have the numbers on the top of my head right now).

Well, those are my ambitions and they'll become plans as I get better and better at the VE-20 and maybe I'll even get another loopstation like the RC-50 in the future. Who knows? I sure as hell don't. Anyways, thanks for reading this post and you KNOW how much I'd appreciate it if you guys sent me your own stuff, think it as your birthday present to me. Well you know what to do: Read it, learn it, live it, love it, and post it!!!!

Cheers, MarkL

P.S. I posted some new songs for you guys which I think you should listen to. Dr. Dre's "I need a Doctor" talks about the relationship between him and Eminem and how he risked his career to help one of the best rappers known today become what he is. And the other song is "Forever Young" by Jay-Z and Mr. Hudson. It talks about how we all need to reminesce about our youth every now and then and it just talks about our youth today and stuffs.

It's about time.....

Hey guys, how yall doing? My week has been great, and now for some reason every friday that passes by gets better and better! Maybe it's the coming summer break, how fast school went by, or just because I'm enjoying myself more these days. Sorry that I didn't write an earlier post, but Blogger was down for maintenance. I've also realised some things that I want to talk to you guys about. So lets get started shall we?

Well here's a starting topic, you guys sucks. Seriously, I've been asking you guys SO many times for feedback and you give me none! Really guys? How many times have I asked for your feedback, your own creations to post on my blog, your own ideas? One too many that's how many. Some people HAVE given me their own art and written opinions, and they have been VERY generous in doing so and I thank them dearly for it. But the rest of you readers, that don't bother to take 3 seconds out of your day to comment on the posts that I write? That's just sad, and I'm dissapointed. I really don't care if you don't agree with me, but it's really not that hard. And here's a real life example of how feedback helps writers write. This author came to my English class 2 days ago and someone asked her "What keeps you writing?" and she answered "Well one of my top motivators would be my readers, any type of constructive criticism or positive feedback really helps me remember why I started writing and keeps me doing it". Take it from a professional and me, any type of positive feedback helps authors keep writing and helps me think of new topics. Bottom line is, your feedback is needed like you need to read my blog. My enjoyment comes from mostly reading your feedback like your enjoyment comes from reading my blog. But the problem is, I have a harder time writing these posts because you guys give NO feedback to me AT ALL. Let me finish up on this note, you want to keep reading my blogs? Then start giving me some feedback because it helps me write more that you guys get to read. So let's move onto another topic.

If you've been watching the news lately you'd know that Osama Bin Laden was supposedly killed about 1 week ago or so. To me, here's 2 things I can sya instantly about this situation: #1 to me he's not dead, and #2 it doesn't matter at ALL. He's not dead to me because 1: they never released photos because they supposedly said that the photos are too cruel and will cause a giant public disturbance and 2: they supposedly buried him culturall by throwing him into the sea. Ok well that's a bunch of BS. Recently, Al-Qaeda have already retaliated against the killing of Osama and kille 14 people through suicide bombing schemes. Do you REALLY think that the photos are going to make things worse? Uh no, maybe the fact that millions of Americans have been celebrating all over the country will make them want to target the United States. Way to go America, you've screwed up once again. For 1, did you think through what the celebrating was going to do? I guess not, because now you're even a BIGGER target than you ever were and ever will be. You killed Osama when he couldn't defend himself which is VERY cowardly to do, you could've at least given him a dying chance and taken him alive with you and interrogated him or something. Killing a man like that is just wrong, and then after killing him you release info 3 days later that he had an AK and a pistol in his grasp. Maybe that's something the world may want to know firsthand? And why coldn't you just give us the photos? What's the REAL danger? Okay so some people are grossed out, but if you release the photo and MANY Americans make fun of the photo and laugh at it then THAT'S a problem don't you think? Here's the other thing, they had NO right to kill him for 9/11, but they did have a right to kill him for arranging and commanding Al-Qaeda. Here's why, they NEVER knew who commited 9/11 and will NEVER know. Oh and if you PROPERLY watched 9/11 recordings you'd see that WTC Building 7 went down right when the two twin towers went down. The thing is, that bulding imploded from the bottom and guess what it contained? All the government docs of the past 50 years were in that building, including their top secret operations and all their top secret trade deals. And the thing is, while people were just working in that building, it imploded right when they were in their offices. And how come NOBODY mentions that when they talk about 9/11? Because they don't know the true facts of what happened that day. And here's another fact that you should know, on 9/11 before the plane hit the two towers Bush was aware of what was supposed to happen and two F-18's were ordered to be in the air to shoot the plane down. When Bush had the power to tell them the order to shoot that hijacked plane down, they two planes never recieved the order and just followed the plane without shooting it down. SO with no proof of whodun it he accused Al-Qaeda of causing 9/11 and moved on. So let's move onto point #2: it doesn't matter that they killed him. The organization will find someone else to put in charge and they'll continue their operations either way without anyone stopping them. So in the end it doesn't matter what you do or say about them, because the idea of terrorism will ALWAYS live as long as mankind lasts, and even after that. So that's just my opinion on that topic. I don't care if you agree or not, because I got proof to back up my opinion so therefore it is valid.

So here's the conclusion. What I want you guys to want to do is comment on my posts but not because I said so. But because YOU yourself want to comment on my posts. I'll just leave you with that last thought. Oh and be sure to print out the picture that I posted on my last post and post it wherever you want. I'll see you guys later so for now: Read it, learn it, live it, love it, and post it!

Cheers, MarkL

HAAAAAAY oh and this is my 50TH POST HELL YEAH!!!!!!!!!! CHEERS TO THAT AND MANY MORE!!!!!!!

Hello my dear readers, how y'all doing? Big shout out to my new readers out there, thanks for taking the time out of your day to read this, oh and you can subscribe to get em@ils every time I get a new post right over here -------------------------------------------------------------------------->
TONS of stuff has happened since I've posted my last post, I'm sorry that I haven't posted any new one. I gotta try harder to do that more often. Anywasys, lets get to it shall we?

My brother sent me a book (by mail, yes that still exists) called :How to Win Friends and Influence People. And I have to say, it's one of the best books I've ever read. That and the Golden Compass Trilogy and Schooled (which I suggest you google search A.S.A.P. and read). Anyways, this book is all about how to influence people and well make new friends. But it's more than that to some people like me, it's a new way to live life. I don't care if I sound like a loner because I've alreayd accepted the fact that I am one and I'm prefectly fine with that, but this book has helped me see the world through different eyes. Here's one of the MOST common sense things ANYONE could know but we ALL take for granted "The only way to make someone do something right is by making them want to do it". You might be saying "Well no sh*t, we ALL know that" or "Well point a gun to their head and they'll do it". Ah but that's not the point, I said if you want something done WELL, not just done. There's a difference. Look at it this way, say you wanted a special kind of flower delivered to your mom for today. And you happened to have a gun with you while you went to the flower shop. If you point that gun at the register and MAKE them do it then they'll spit in your flowers and probably put poison ivy in it. But if you persuade them with a positive attitude using the numerous techniques in the book then you'll get what you want, with TOP quality. If you don't see the difference let me tell you, by pointing the gun it's the same as yelling at someone to do something, the person won't want to do what you want them to do at all. But if you try a different approach then they'll do it because THEY want to do it for you. Ok let me give you an example used in the book. A man that went to the author's seminar had a young boy, age 6, that ALWAYS wet his bed (his name won't be released for obvious reasons :). His parents and his grandma ALWAYS yelled at him for wetting his bed. And did he stop? Ofcourse not. So what they did was think, how can we MAKE him stop by making him WANT to stop? Well the young boy wanted a bed of his own instead of sharing it with his grandma, and his own pair of pajamas. Bottom line, he wanted to be important. Which is what I'm going to talk about later on. So the parents let him choose his bed at the store, and his own pj's, When he came home his parents asked him "Are you going to wet your bed son?" and he replied "No daddy, I picked this one out myself. I'm going to keep it clean and tidy." And he never wet any bed again, and they all lived happily ever after (I just HAD to add that in :). So the point is, they made him WANT to stop wetting his bed by buying him his own (making him feel important). Now the other thing is that the book taught me, is that EVERYONE strives to feel important somehow. And no matter WHO you are, we ALL strive to be important. Here's an example: criminals. Why do they steal money and kill people? Sometimes for revenge, sometimes because they can't survive. But either way, it's to get into the sunday paper or on the top of FBI's most wanted list. And that is one advantage the boy's parents used to stop him from wetting his bed, by making him feel important by letting him buy his own bed and pj's and making him feel more of a man. I don't suggest you try any of these techniques because if it's one thing I've learned it's this "Don't judge nobody else until you fix yourself up". Trust me, and if you don't believe me then take a look at it froma  common sense point of view. Do you REALLY have the power to say that someone sucks at a sport if you're no better than them in the first place (or really anything for that matter, including dance, photoshop, singing, anything). And even when you do get better than everyone else who gives you the right to say that someone sucks at something? How would you like it if someone found a flaw of yours and exposed it every time you revealed it and nobody noticed? That's a douchy thing to do, and unless you wear sunglasses at night I suggest you shouldn't judge anyone. And in fact in the book it clearly says that when you judge someone it makes them want to instantly retaliate and fight back and prove themselves right. I mean, what is your first instinct when someone tells you you're wrong? To make sure that you're right, don't worry it's human instinct. But if the person isn't a complete douche and is understanding and compassionate they'd be nice enough to teach you why you were wrong and try to help you every time you'd make the same mistake so that you stop doing it. Because it's the right thing to do. I could go on about the book for SOOOO long because it has SUCH good tips. But I suggest you get your hands on your own copy because to me it was life-changing, I now see the world through a different point of view and think differently of each situation, or at least I try to. But here are the tips that I can give you right now: do NOT critisize under ANY circumstances because it's the worst thing you could possibly do, try to think how you can make the person WANT to do what you want them to do and don't force them, and finally: smile because it will bring a new level to your life. Smile in the elevator, on your way to work, and to anyone you pass by because you will make them smile and your world will become better for it, trust me it works miracles. I'll have some more notes as I read the book, I'll write the summary after I finish reading it and I suggest you read it for yourself because there's TONS of GREAT examples that I won't write down which is why you gotta read it for yourself. Let's move on.

So anyways, I was stuck in an elevator yesterday, for half an hour. Surprisingly I was VERY calm, but thank god I had my music with me or else I would've gone apesh*t without it. What I learned from that ordeal was to stay more calm in general because before that incident I was carrying out a box of papers for recycling, and it was a BIIIG box. Turns out the bottom wasn't as good as a holder as I thought, but I ignored it anyways. So when all the papaers fell I was SOOOO pissed and started cursing. I then calmed down and walked in the elevator, and then managed to trip while tying my shoelaces in the air cause I was in a hurry and my fall decided to stop the elevator, for half an hour -__- Sure I was scared the first 30 seconds, but then I looked at the situation.
#1 I was NOT claustrophobic so that didn't worry me.
#2 I was ALONE and therefore I could only focus on myself and my well being which makes it easier.
#3 I had my cellphone and good reception.
#4 The circulation system worked in the elevator as well as the lights.
#5 All the buttons for an emergency were there for me waiting to be pressed.
And so I pressed the needed buttons, called the office and they sent a technician in for me. Once he called me back I knew it was only a matter of time until I got out. So I just sat there, with my music, just chilling, very calmly (surprisingly). And then it moved up a floor, I pressed my floor button and it moved up to it. I got out and went home. It's not THAT exciting, but what I do advise is that in ANY situation where you are trapped or under pressure or surviving here are the basic rules:
#1 Stay calm, nothing worse then panicking in a tight situation.
#2 Use some common sense, don't try anything new, do what you know needs to be done in your situations, remember your trainging if you had any depending on your situation.
#3 Tend to the needs of EVERYONE in the group, and if it's just you then you know what to do.
That's just the basic stuff that I know from surviving, but hopefully I'll have more situations in survival so that I learn more about it because it's REALLY good if you have the expertise to survive in a forest with nothing but a parachute, Swiss army knife, and a camera crew like Bear Gryllis.

So I guess that's it for today's post, oh and my friend Miko that did the Minecrft pic on one of my other pages made a poster for my blog which is going to be below just for YOU guys to print out and post around ANYWHERE you want. I really don't care where it is, except if it's on someone, as in when you're walking you run by someone and staple them with the paper. And unless you have a deathwish or happen to be nearby a hosptial I suggest you don't do that. I guess that's everything that I have for you guys today, I hoped you liked it and please subscribe and send me your stuff that you want to see posted to baciacalupo@hotmail.com. Oh and don't forget to: Read it, learn it, live it, love it, and post it!

Cheers, MarkL

Photo creds go to Miko, thanks SO much man, you guys go check out his blog at:  http://sramek-art.blogspot.com/

P.S. just copy and paste this into Microsoft Word and stretch it out and print it. Oh and cut out the vertical lines so that people can tear them off and take them home.
